Udaipur is a monsoon paradise and inevitably the best time to visit. In this blog, I will take you through a doable itinerary across places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days, provided that you have two complete days to visit here. If you’re on a 2-night 3-day tour, you can always break the itinerary as per convenience.
Day 1
Breakfast at Bunkyard Café
We reached Udaipur from Jaipur at 4 am with an overnight train. We instantly booked a room from the Brevistay app to rest for the night before moving to our pre-booked hotel.
In the morning, we checked-out from out hourly booked hotel that we had for 12 hours and came to Purohito Ki Haveli for breakfast at Bunkyard Café.
The rooftop café is the tallest in Udaipur and also homes a hostel. I came here again in April 2024 but it was closed due to off-season and low bookings.
Check-in at Vallabh Garh
Around 12 pm we checked-in to one of the cheapest Udaipur lakeside hotels called Vallabh Garh. It is comparatively new and in a remote place that can only be navigated via an auto route.
It had standard facilities but a view beautiful enough to make my partner cry when it starting raining. The cost per night was Rs. 3,500 during the peak season back in August 2023.
Current charges suggest quotes it less than Rs. 1,000 probably become it isn’t monsoon yet.
City Palace Udaipur
We spent our entire evening in City Palace Udaipur and went to The Sun and Moon Café for dinner right after.
Being a history buff, I wanted to get into the intricacies of what the palace had to offer. The monsoons created magic as we drenched into the vibe!
If you have a complete day to begin with, unlike us, you can easily include the following in your Udaipur 1 day itinerary.
Things to note:
- City Palace Udaipur timings is between 9 am and 5 pm alike all government-owned sites to see
- The ticket price of Udaipur palace is Rs. 400 for adults, Rs. 150 for students/children, Rs. 250 for senior citizens or ones with defense ID

Jagdish Temple
Jagdish Temple is reasonably the first among the places to visit Udaipur in 2 days as it falls in the center of attractions. It is a specimen of the Mewar dynasty that you would want to pause and admire.
It was established in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh. The City Palace is located right beside this temple and as you walk from one place to another you are spoilt with shopping and food options.
Boating at Lake Pichola and Jagmandir
Jagmandir is one of the fascinating places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days but we couldn’t make it here as it was exceeding out budget and time. It takes you a boat ride from Lake Pichola to visit this temple set in-between the lake. It takes 1-2 hours to complete the tour and costs Rs. 450 from City Palace and Rs. 700 after 3pm from Pichola. Most lakeside hotels offer ferries to take you here with additional charges.
Things to note:
- Lake Pichola boat ride costs Rs. 180 per person
- Jagmandir is an Island Palace that requires you to take a boat
- Entry fee to Jagmandir is Rs. 700 post 3 pm for a beautiful sunset experience
Dudh Talai
Right beside the boating facilities of Lake Pichola is this pond called Dudh Talai Musical Garden. It reflects modern Rajasthani architecture and creates a mesmerizing ambience for Instagram photos.
Bagore Ki Haveli and Gangaur Ghat
Gangaur Ghat is among the top Udaipur places to visit and an evening not spent here will leave your trip incomplete. The ghat overlooked from Bagore Ki Haveli and Museum is one of the most beautiful sights to capture especially during Udaipur monsoons.
The Dharohar Dance Show happens every evening inside this haveli between 7 pm and 8 pm. Add this to your list if you want to experience traditional folk art by the artists of Mewar.
Things to note:
- Bagore Ki Haveli ticket price is Rs. 60 for adults and Rs. 10 for children
- Dharohar Dance Show cost is Rs. 150 and tickets should be booked by 5 pm
- Bagore Ki Haveli timings is 9 am to 5 pm and it is recommended to visit earlier than closing time
Dinner at The Sun and Moon Café
We dined at The Sun and Moon Café which is one of the highest rooftop restaurants in Udaipur. The place serves alcohol and non-vegetarian food and if those are your eating preferences you know where to come!
The sunset view and night view from this restaurant is incredible. If you want to witness the magnificent folds of hills and the Pichola Lake while tasting scrumptious food.
Day 2
Monsoon Palace
Sajjangarh Fort also goes by the name Monsoon Palace as the lush greenery you can witness here is like no other. You cannot leave this out of your itinerary when shortlisting the places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days especially during monsoons.
Autos are not allowed but you can book a jeep to go the hilltop fort. The once palatial residence named after Maharana Sajjan Singh. It overlooks the Fateh Sagar Lake and gives a bird-eye view of the City of Lakes.
Things to note:
- Monsoon Palace ticket price is Rs. 110 for Indians and Rs. 300 for foreigners
- The jeep price cost Rs. 100 per person for a round-trip
- You can bring you personal car
Zipline adventure
If you are looking for adventures in Udaipur, a zipline might quench your thirst. Greenery welcomes you here and you’d definitely want to avoid wearing green to not disappear into nature!
Things to note:
- Zipline adventure in Udaipur costs Rs. 200 per person
- It is 2-minute adventure and absolutely safe to try
Maharana Pratap Memorial
If you want to know the lineage of the Mewar dynasty, this is where you need to be. The place has pictorial descriptions along with written explanations that tells us about the kingdom of Mewar.
Things to note:
- The cost to purchase a ticket here is Rs. 20 for adults and Rs. 10 for children
- It is a must-visit to explore the history and royalty of Mewar
Boat ride at Fatehsagar Lake
Paying Rs. 236 for a speedboat ride at Fatehsagar Lake felt like the best investment in Udaipur. As the boat moved forward and the hills started looking bigger in size, the feeling was nothing less than larger than life.
Things to note:
- Fateh Sagar speedboat ride costs Rs. 236 per person
- It is best to visit during sunset
- There are many shops lined up outside for refreshment
- There are also camel ride options and the view is worth stopping by
Lunch at Royal Rajwada
Most of us know about Laal Maas from Jaipur, but do you know about Dungar Maas from Udaipur? We didn’t until we tried smokey flavoured mutton that outdid what we thought a traditional Laal Maas couldn’t beat. If you eat meat, this is one dish you have to try in Udaipur.
Saheliyon Ki Bari
While this was our last stop before going shopping at Hathipole Bazaar, you can add a visit to the Wax Museum or Vintage Car Museum after visiting this one. The rains did disturb our plan as we couldn’t explore shopping hubs as much as we thought we would. But whatever we could cover was worth every penny spent.
So, Saheliyon Ki Bari is an interesting place created for maidens to accompany princesses as they would bathe, rejuvenate and relax. It is set amidst fountains, gardens, and made a royal retreat.
Things to note:
- The ticket price to visit this place is Rs. 10 for Indians and Rs. 50 for adults
- You must book a guide to know about the incredible architecture and make the most of your time
Feel free to adjust your itinerary
Travel has to often be spontaneous and fun and one thing that will help you adjust in Udaipur is close proximity of the iconic locations from one to another. So, if let yourself breathe and rework as you like cause the city is supposed to help you relax and calm your senses. This is one place in Rajasthan where you should have a laidback approach and not hurry.
We spent an entire day in Lake Pichola Hotel because one day charges were exponentially high and we wanted to the make the most of it. All we did is relax and watch Gangaur Ghat from the opposite direction. If that’s a POV you’d want for your Udaipur visit too, you got to check out the hotel!
