How To Book a Taxi Service in Krabi?

Krabi taxi service relies on local drivers, taxi apps, and unique bike taxis that are neither bikes nor taxis!

During our visit to Krabi, we had pre-booked services from Klook Travel and it was quite reliable. We not only booked our private taxi driver in Krabi but also our boat ride from Krabi to Phi Phi Islands.

With this post I am going to simplify the process further by sharing a direct contact for booking a private taxi in Krabi.

How to get around Krabi?

Unlike Bangkok, a city with numerous public transport options, Krabi is a tiny tropical paradise with limited amenities. The lush greenery of this place creates a habitat that is close to nature and far from urbanization. But that doesn’t mean you’ll have a hard time getting around. Here are some ways to get around Krabi:

1. Rented bikes

If you know how to ride a bike or scooter, you can explore Krabi by yourself. The average cost per day is 250-300 Baht, which gets discounted depending on the number of days you take. For instance, renting a scooter for a week costs around 1,400 Baht, while renting it for a month costs 3,000 Baht. The more days you stay, the more you can negotiate for the best price.

2. Songthaew trucks

Songthaew trucks are large vans that pick up locals and tourists on a specific route. Passengers pay the fare based on their destination, which cuts down on costs compared to private taxi charges.

Things To Do at Krabi Town Night Market

You’re likely to find these trucks early in the morning outside of your hotel when staying in Krabi Town or Ao Nang beach. Since most tourists leave from their hotels for exploration during this time, you could find trucks taking you up to popular sites like Tiger Cave Temple.

We had booked a truck while going from our hotel to Krabi Town night market. Since we were late, there weren’t any other passengers apart from the two of us. The driver charged us 500 Baht for a round-trip from Ao Nang to night market and back to our hotel with a wait time of 1 hour 30 minutes for us to spend at the night market. It was a lot like booking a private taxi for a little period.

3. Tuk-Tuks

The tuk-tuks in Krabi are unique because they differ from the regular Bangkok-style ones. The ones in Bangkok are much like autorickshaws we get here in India. The ones in Krabi, however, will blow your mind!

They are bikes and scooters with an attached section on wheels that allows space for 3-4 people. These are perfect for short trips around nearby places, but not for long journeys that would take 40-50 minutes to reach.

While we were staying at the Vacation Village hotel in Ao Nang, we found these bike taxis in front of the hotel. They could take us to Krabi Town or Ao Nang beach. Since we had little time, we couldn’t ride this one!

4. Taxi apps

Grab and Uber apps work in Krabi, and you can download any of these to go around the town. We used Bolt more in Thailand because it was cheaper than the other two options.

5. Private Krabi taxi service

If you want a local driver to pick you up when you land in Krabi, you can book a private driver online. Websites like TripAdvisor, MakeMyTrip, and Klook Travel provide options customized to your needs.

From number of people traveling to the date and time of pickup, you can schedule it all through these platforms. It will help you take the car far and wide to places like the Emerald Pool, Hot Springs Waterfall, Tiger Cave, Ao Nang, and more.

Booking cabs individually to go from one place to another will neither be cost-effective nor guarantee you rides. Attractions in Krabi are spread out, and some areas may not be easily accessible via cab apps.

Our experience with local taxi service in Krabi

When flying internationally, there are some things we wish we had covered to streamline our experiences and make the most of every minute. The first place I explored in Thailand was Krabi, and the moment I landed, I wished someone was waiting for me. By someone, I mean a local driver offering taxi service to take me around the beautiful tropical paradise.

And there she was, a hijab-clad woman who looked lean and strong. She was gleefully looking at us the moment my elder sister raised her hand, as she had identified my name on the clipboard. She greeted us with a big smile, and we began discussing what we wanted to do for the day. We were trying to understand her accent, and it wasn’t easy initially. But slowly, we could communicate fluently. Locals in Thailand usually speak in a high pitch, so when they speak in English you have to make out which words they put their stress on.

Pick up from Krabi airport for taxi service

We had reached our destination after an overnight flight from Kolkata to Bangkok and then from Bangkok to Krabi. By 9 am, we were ready for our day trip to a beach destination, as we only had one day. As soon as we met our driver, Veena, we headed straight to the Krabi airport parking area, loaded our luggage, and started exploring. The receding monsoons of Krabi had clouds darkening in blue while the sun tried to fight and cast its light – the combination was fantastic.

In front of Emerald Pool Krabi

Our first stop was the Emerald Pool, and Veena accompanied us on the trail, watching us enjoy our relaxing swim. She then took us to the Hot Springs Waterfall in Krabi and clicked pictures with us for her personal branding requirements.

On the way to Hot Springs Waterfall in Krabi

Since our hotel was far from the two major attractions, we explored these and headed towards Krabi Town. We stopped by the White Temple while passing Krabi Town. It was the last place she took us before dropping us off at the hotel. We arrived just in time to freshen up and go out for some fantastic Thai food for lunch.

Booking Veena made our day in Krabi delightful and safe. She knows the place inside and out and can give you suggestions on more places to explore. So, to book a reliable Krabi taxi service, you can contact her directly at +66845072873. She is available on WhatsApp and responds quickly.
