Rawla Mrignayani Palace Jaipur Rajasthan
I went to Jaipur after 14 years, and I looked up heritage hotels in Jaipur online, only to find out that most rooms wouldn’t be less than Rs. 5000 to 6000.
I kept scrolling, hoping to get a better deal and there it was – a quaint old yellow haveli, done up with red borders (much like alta we Bengalis put on our feet).
The price?
It was approximately Rs. 1100 per day.
The name of the hotel was tough for me to pronounce at first, but the pictures were impressive.
The price we paid for our first-time stay at Rawla Mrignayani Palace was lesser compared to our second visit.
We first went in February 2022 and then again in June 2022. They had upgraded the antique wooden beds with better mattresses, making the rooms cosier to stay over.
But that is not all when it comes to features. The best thing about choosing one of the budget heritage hotels in Jaipur is the warmth that it brings along.
The owners of the place live in the Haveli, and they have limited food options because it comes from their own kitchen. Rawla Mrignayani Palace was more like a homestay than a hotel, and that was the beauty of this centrally located hidden gem in Jaipur.
Why book Rawla Mrignayani Palace Jaipur?
In this blog, I am going to list some of the reasons why Rawla Mrignayani Palace (Rao Kripa Rao ki Haveli) is the best place to stay in Jaipur:
Location
The location of the hotel is in the old city and a five-minute drive away from Hawa Mahal. The city’s prime attractions are close to this hotel, making this palace easily accessible.
Close to the railway station
The hotel is a 15-minute drive away from the Jaipur railway station. We entered the hotel at 2 am at night and did not have a problem getting an Uber and navigating through the beautiful walls of Jaipur city.
Living like the royals
The Haveli gives you the royal vibe you expect to experience when coming to Jaipur. The pricing makes it interesting because you get home-like warmth amidst the palace-like vibes.
Sunrise view
The main highlight is the breathtaking sunrise views from the topmost terrace of this palace. As you enter through the terrace door right in front, you spot the Nahargarh Fort.
Carrying a pair of binoculars will be great, but you’re good to go if you have a camera that can zoom proficiently. Swing your camera to the right to locate the walls of the fort and then a Ganesh Mandir.
Jaipur palace hotel price
The room rent per night costs as low as Rs. 1000 ($13) and goes up to Rs. 2000 ($26), according to the size of the rooms and amenities you choose to avail.
Big rooms can accommodate four people and cost Rs. 4400 ($55). The rooms that are slightly more expensive have bathtubs attached in the bathing rooms, but if you are willing to let that go, you can choose the cheapest rooms available here.
Navigating through Rawla Mrignayani Palace
While climbing down from the topmost terrace, I stopped to look around another terrace located right below. It was under construction when I visited, and they are probably building a couple more rooms there.
The Haveli looked most beautiful to me when I was walking back down. The narrow pathways and the stairs led me to the centre of the Haveli, where I found the owner Mr Joyes Singh doing his morning exercise. The owners live in this part of the palace, and you can reach out to them for any assistance.
One highlight about this hotel that I liked is that they let you go through all the available rooms to choose which one you want to stay in. At first, we saw Room No. 97, but I decided not to stay there because I wanted a bathtub. However, this is a perfect room if you’re looking for the cheapest option and some seclusion. The outer area looked like a garden to me and also had a swing.
Interesting facts about Rawla Mrignayani Palace Jaipur
As we enter the lobby area where we check-in while entering the hotel, we find a few interesting facts about Rawla Mrignayani Palace.
So this palace was established when the city of Jaipur was being established by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh approximately 297 years ago. It was gifted to the then Prime Minister, Rao Kripa Rao, which is why Google location addresses this place as Rao Kripa Rao ki Haveli.
Rao Kripa Rao was the Diwan of Chaksu who received this palace as a gift. However, later Jaipur highness got angry for a reason (unknown to us) and took the Haveli back from him. The Haveli was then gifted to the ancestors of the current residents, originally from Jodhpur Rajasthan.
After returning to the centre of the palace, I took a flight of stairs down towards the area made of limestone. Before looking through the white walls of limestones, I stopped by to look at the gym equipment the owners let you use if you wish to exercise during your stay.
The underground area of the Haveli is made of limestones to keep it cool during the scorching Jaipur summertime. As I climbed up another staircase, I went right into the passage where my room was. Little did I know that they were connected from both ends, and I caught myself in a Bhool Bhulayiya situation.
We had a homely breakfast, including cheese sandwiches, omelette, and tea.
Rawla Mrignayani Palace Jaipur Reviews
The first room we booked included a diwan, an antique bench, a coffee table with chairs, a king-size bed, and drapes that reminded me of the Jodha Akbar movie. The large washroom included a bathtub, geyser, a western toilet, and toiletries. The price per day was approximately Rs. 1100 back then.
The room we stayed in during our next visit also included all the amenities. Still, the prices were slightly higher as they made some changes to upgrade the rooms. We got this room for Rs. 1700 per day. But the ones without bathtubs still cost around Rs. 1000.
When you compare aspects like price, location, and the vibe this hotel provides, it is a steal deal to swear by.

Why I chose to stay at Rawla Mrignayani Palace twice?
My journey to grow my personal brand Touresham, began when I visited Jaipur in February 2022. I realized I could fall in love with places and, most definitely, palaces!
It all started when I couldn’t explore Nahargarh Fort properly, and I can back to the hotel unhappy. I realized nothing more than a failed trip made me as sad as anything else.
I realized I loved Jaipur, and it was time to finally explore what I was most passionate about – travelling!
Rawla Mrignayani Palace imbibed my urge to become a travel content creator.
Let’s see how that goes and let’s keep going places!
